Live Trip Updates – August 18, 2014

TL-30-423 and TL-30-426: Today the groups had a big day in the Negev, or Israeli Desert! They started the day before dawn to take their much awaited hike up Masada to view the beautiful sunrise over the desert. Afterward, they enjoyed a delicious breakfast and some much needed coffee at the bottom. Then, they traveled to the Ein Bokek Beach for their first float in the Dead Sea. In the evening they traveled back to Jerusalem to spend the night.

TL-30-424: The group’s day today began extremely early. Before sunrise, the groups departed for Masada to climb the Roman Ramp to the very top. At the top, the group learned about the history of Masada and witnessed a breathtaking sunrise over the Negev. Later in the day, the group went for a float in the Dead Sea and then hiked the Nahal David trail to the desert oasis. In the evening, they made their way to the Bedouin tents, where they rode camels through the desert! They’ll enjoy their night relaxing around a campfire at the tents.

TL-30-425: The group had a somber day today, visiting both Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum and Memorial and Har Herzl National Memorial. The group learned a lot about the history of Israel and the Jewish people. In the evening, they left Jerusalem and departed for the Israeli desert or Negev. They’ll spend the night tonight in Arad. TL-30-427: Today the group had an emotional day as they visited Har Herzl National Memorial, followed by Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum and Memorial. The trip was very meaningful to experience with their Israeli peers. Afterwards, they departed for the desert for the next part of their trip. Here are some photos from their meaningful day.

TL-30-428 and TL-30-429: The groups spent today in Tel Aviv. They toured Tel Aviv- Jaffa, a historic seaport colony. Then, they traveled to Tel Aviv and visited Rabin Square, a memorial for former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, who was assassinated in 1995. They also spent time on the beach enjoying the beautiful Mediterranean. In the evening, they departed for the Israeli desert, or Negev, to spend the night in Arad.

TL-30-430: The group arrived in Israel today! After landing in Ben Gurion, the group met their Israeli tour guide and departed north. They played ice breakers and had an opening orientation to kick off their trip.

TL-30-431: Today the group landed in Israel after a long, smooth flight. In Ben Gurion airport, they met their Israeli tour guide, grabbed their bags, and headed north. They did icebreaker games to get to know one another better and enjoyed a delicious first dinner in Tiberias. The group will be joined by another Israel Outdoors group, Bus TL-30-435 later tonight and for the rest of their trip.

TL-30-435: The group arrived in Israel this evening after a long journey. Upon arrival they immediately headed north to Tiberias. At the hotel, they will meet Israel Outdoors group TL-30-431 who will join with them for the reminder of the trip.
