Each year, Israel Outdoors partners with a number of innovative Jewish organizations to provide a series of "Special Group" options for Taglit-Birthright Israel applicants. In each case, our Special Group programs are based on the core Israel Outdoors trip experience. The actual itineraries may vary according to the idea behind the trip, and certain Special Group programs are offered only to specific populations (e.g. medical students) or to applicants from a specific region or college campus. Israeli Movement: Dance, Yoga & Martial Arts (Ages 18-26) Based on the core Israel Quest itinerary, this program is specially offered to anyone with an interest in modern dance, yoga and/or martial arts. This specialty program is designed to showcase contemporary Israeli culture and provide a unique lens for understanding modern Israeli society. Learn Israeli martial arts class on the beach of the Mediterranean, take part in a dance/movement workshop at the edge of the Ramon Crater in the Negev Desert, and experience yoga/meditation sessions designed to help reflect on the journey. New York City Community Israel Experience (Ages 22-26)
Sponsored in partnership with the UJA Federation of New York
Based on the core Israel Quest itinerary, this program is specially offered to applicants who live in or are from the greater New York City area (New York City, Westchester and Long Island). This coming season three trips will be offered -- one group for participants from Westchester, one group for participants of Russian descent, and one for participants of Sephardic descent. These trips are a perfect way to experience Israel with new friends with whom you can easily stay in touch locally after your return from Israel. North Carolina Hillel Israel Experience (Ages 18-22) Sponsored in partnership with North Carolina Hillel
Based on the core Israel Quest itinerary, this program is specially offered to undergraduate applicants from across North Carolina. This trip is the perfect way to experience Israel with friends from your school, make new friends from across NC, and meet other Jewish students from across the world. Because this trip is offered in conjunction with the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte, applicants from the Charlotte area and/or at schools in the Charlotte area will be given priority for a portion of the slots. Medical Students Mifgash Experience (Ages 22-26) Sponsored in partnership with American Physicians Fellowship for Medicine in Israel
The American Physicians Fellowship, established in 1950, is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the state of medical education, research and health care in Israel. The "Medical Students Mifgash Experience" pairs American medical students, nursing students, and already licensed nurses with Israeli medical students, medics, paramedics, and physicians for all 10-days of the program in Israel. Highlights include participation in field training exercises, military medic simulations, and opportunities to network with Israeli physicians of all backgrounds. It's a special way to experience Israel and deepen ties with your Israeli colleagues.

Jewish Renewal Israel Experience (Ages 18-26) Sponsored in partnership with ALEPH - The Allience for Jewish Renewal

Music, creative ritual, joy and deep learning will infiltrate every aspect of the tour. You will pray and learn with Israeli Jewish Renewal teachers and peacemakers, experience an ecstatic welcome of Shabbat and dive into the mystical energy of Sfat. Expect chanting, drumming and niggunim on the bus, meaningful rituals at holy sites like the Kotel, sunrise prayers at Masada and more. This year’s trip will be led by remarkable ALEPH leaders: second generation Jewish Renewalist, aspiring cantor and martial artist Sarah Beck-Berman, and ALEPH Rabbinic Student, chant leader, environmental activist and spiritual storyteller Ilan Glazer.
